However, much of the gambling action happens online in licensed casinos in the form of in-person gambling. ![]() According to the American Gaming Association, Mississippi, particularly the Gulf Coast area, contributed $1.4 billion to the US iGaming industry in 2020. One state that contributes to gambling’s growing popularity is Mississippi in the southwest. As of 2019, there are over 400 brick-and-mortar casinos in the US, not counting the numerous online gambling sites that accept real money bets from players. Gambling remains prevalent in most states, whether in-person or wagering money on online casino games. Although gambling is a hotly contested issue, it’s difficult to deny its popularity in the United States.
